Welcome to GameScrobbler ("GS"). Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your data when you use our services.
Account Information: When you sign up, we collect necessary details such as username and email.
Gaming Data: We collect playtime, achievements, sessions, and related game data from the integrations you connect and the Playnite plugin you choose to sync.
Usage Data: We may collect analytics on how you interact with GS to improve user experience.
Cookies & Tracking Technologies: We use cookies to enhance functionality and performance.
3. How We Use Your Data
To provide and improve our services.
To personalize insights and recommendations.
To enhance security and prevent fraud.
To produce aggregate, anonymous statistics about gaming activity — for example, total playtime trends, popularity of titles by region, or patterns like "players who own X often also own Y" — which we may use in research, industry reports, and commercial offerings.
To comply with legal obligations.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We may share data with:
Third-Party Services: For analytics, storage, and integration with gaming platforms.
Research and analytics partners: We share aggregate, anonymous statistics — for example, popularity of titles by region, total playtime trends, or patterns like "players who own X often also own Y". These statistics never include your name, email, or anything that identifies you personally. We use them in industry reports and may share them with research partners and commercial customers.
Legal Authorities: If required by law.
5. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate GameScrobbler. Each receives only the data necessary to perform its function.
Authentication & gaming-platform sync: Steam, PlayStation Network (Sony), Xbox / Microsoft, Discord, Google (OAuth + public Google Play Games profile scraping), Overwolf, Epic Games Services.
AI features (only when you grant explicit AI consent): Anthropic (Claude), Google (Gemini), OpenAI, OpenRouter. Your gaming library titles and metadata are sent to these providers solely to generate your insights, in accordance with each provider's API terms.
Product analytics & error tracking: PostHog (product analytics, error capture, and — with separate consent — session replay).
Web analytics: Google Analytics via Google Tag Manager — aggregate page-view and event analytics. Receives data only when you grant "Analytics" consent in the privacy banner. Processing involves data transfer to Google servers in the United States under Google's Standard Contractual Clauses; see Google's privacy policy for details.
6. Cookies & Tracking
Session cookies for authentication (required).
Analytics cookies (PostHog and Google Analytics) for product improvement and error tracking — set only when you grant "Analytics" consent in the privacy banner.
No third-party advertising cookies are used.
7. Your Rights
Access, modify, or delete your data.
Disconnect gaming accounts anytime.
Request account cleanup or Playnite plugin data deletion through support.
8. GDPR & Data Protection Rights
If you are in the European Economic Area, you have additional rights including: the right to access your personal data, the right to rectification, the right to erasure (right to be forgotten), the right to data portability, the right to restrict processing, and the right to object to processing.
GameScrobbler is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected data from a child under 13, please contact us immediately.
10. AI Features
GameScrobbler offers optional AI-powered features (such as AI Roast and Gaming Dossier) that analyze your gaming data to generate personalized insights. These features require explicit consent before activation. Your gaming data used by AI features is processed only to generate your insights and is not sold or shared with third parties for their own purposes.
11. Data Retention
We retain your personal data only as long as necessary for service operation and legal compliance. When you delete your account, your personal information is removed.
Aggregate, anonymous statistics that have already been derived from gaming activity — and which cannot be linked back to you — may continue to exist in research datasets and reports after your account is closed.
12. Security Measures
GameScrobbler is hosted on AWS, uses HTTPS to protect data in transit, and relies on authenticated account and integration flows to access connected gaming data.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or operational details.
For non-material updates — such as clarifications, contact information, or the addition of a new sub-processor within a category we already disclose — we will update this page and refresh the "Last Updated" date. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
For material changes — such as new categories of personal data collected, new processing purposes, or new categories of recipients beyond those described here — we will notify registered users via email or in-product notice before the change takes effect, and where required by law we will request fresh consent.
Continued use of GameScrobbler after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
