In a world where supernatural powers exist, Verita Retro is an ordinary girl from Sicily who longs for a quiet, peaceful life. But when her family leaves her behind with a crushing debt, that ordinary life is shattered. In search of a way forward, Verita encounters Zad Vering, a merchant who deals in STAFF—mysterious objects infused with supernatural power. When she learns that these objects can be sold for a high price, she chooses to become involved. But that choice marks the beginning of a tragedy.
